The Municipal Corporation is a local self-government body and its main work is to provide basic and infrastructure services within the limits of the Municipal Corporation. It also carries out work related to other social issues. Skilled, technical, etc. manpower is required for this work. The Establishment Department is mainly responsible for organizing the department, determining the required number of employees under the department, determining educational qualifications, preparing and updating the plan, and recruiting to the said posts as per the instructions of the government and on the basis of the service entry rules.

Action is taken against the recruited officers and employees mainly under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, Maharashtra Civil Services Act 1979/1981.

The revised service entry rules and structure of Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation have been approved by the Hon'ble Government on 6th February, 2016. Recruitment is done for the posts in the Municipal Corporation as per the said service entry rules and structure. Similarly, recruitment is also done under various schemes of the Hon'ble Government. (Apprenticeship Scheme / Chief Minister Youth Training Scheme, etc.)

Regular proceedings regarding salaries, allowances, leave, retirement, training, discipline and appeals, etc. of the officers and employees working in the Municipal Corporation are carried out as per the provisions of the Hon'ble Government, Acts, and orders of the Hon'ble Court.
