Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation was established in the year 2003. The city is divided into four divisions, which have a total of 17 wards. The area of the city is about 84 sq. km. According to the 2011 census, the population here was 3,50,859. Currently, the population is approximately 4 lakhs, and about 20 thousand people come here every day.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

While preparing for the Swachh Survekshan competition under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Municipal Corporation has always emphasized on sustainable sanitation work without thinking only about the competition. Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, 2414 individual toilets have been constructed in the municipal area. Families in the cities who do not have toilet facilities. Families who used to defecate in the open have been provided with individual household toilets. In this way, by providing toilet facilities to every family in the city, Ahilyanagar city has become an open defecation-free city.

Taking note of the work being done by Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation, in the Central Government's Swachh Survekshan 2023 competition, under the guidance of Administrator and Commissioner Dr. Pankaj Javale, Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation has secured 3rd rank at the state level in the D class municipal corporation group. It has also secured first rank in Nashik division. Along with this, it has secured 3 stars for garbage-free cities and ODF++ status for open defecation-free city. The municipal corporation has made steady progress since its establishment and has secured the best rank this year.

 Water and Sewerage Services:

Under the Amrut Yojana, 100% pure water is supplied to the city.

Water is supplied from the water purification center at Vilad Ghat.

A 57 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant (STP) has been set up at Faryabagh.

A 20 KLD capacity FSTP project is also operational.

Sewage management in the city is carried out by three sewage trucks.
